Bringing Auckland's finest Entertainment to the North Shore

Theatre Information and Etiquette

We pride ourselves on providing a memorable theatre experience. We ask for the following house rules to be followed to ensure the comfort of all our patrons.

Arrivals
Patrons to arrive at the theatre no later than 15 minutes before the start time of the performance to ensure that you are seated in time and do not delay the start of the show.

If picking up tickets from the box office prior to the show, patrons should allow 30 minutes before the start time of the show.

Disabled Access
There are a number of specially allocated wheelchair spaces in the stalls. Please advise Ticketmaster when buying your tickets.

Disabled toilets are available on Levels 3 and 4.
Lift access is available to Level 4 (dress circle), however there are still a number of steps to access seats.

Hearing Loop
If you are hearing impaired, there is a hearing loop installed.

During a Performance
As a courtesy to your fellow Patrons we ask that:
  • You do not use your mobile device in our Theatre. The screens on new phones are very bright and do cause a distraction and many complaints from others.
  • Use of any audio and/or visual recording is prohibited as it is a breach of copyright and disturbs other Patrons.
  • If you need to leave the theatre during the performance, please do so at an opportune time. A break between acts or performance pieces is best (for example, when the audience is giving applause). When you return please be aware that our Ushers will hold you back to return to your seat until there is a break in the performance. Other Patrons find it very distracting to have fellow Patrons returning to their seats during a performance. This is also deemed unacceptable by many performers.
  • Please do not talk during a performance.
  • If you purchase an ice-cream can you please put the wrapper in a rubbish bin before entering the Theatre.
  • No glass or hot food is allowed in the Theatre. All beverages must be in a plastic tumbler if taken into the auditorium, there are no exceptions. Plastic tumblers will be available by each auditorium door, please ensure your beverage is poured into these before entering.

Seating
Seat allocation is located on your ticket.  Please ensure you are in the correct seat. On General Admission events where there is no seat allocation, all seating is to be started from the front rows, from the middle out.

Intermission
Most shows will allow for an intermission. If leaving the show prior to a break period please ensure you have your ticket with you.  If you have any questions prior to or during an event please ask one of the Ushers who will be located at all auditorium exit doors or various points around the building for assistance.

General Policy
Children and those in need of special care are the responsibility of their parents, guardians, teachers or carers.

All children over 12 months of age must be in possession of a ticket for a seat.
Minimum supervision requirements are 1 adult for every 10 children.
We reserve the right to refuse entry to unaccompanied children under the age of 14.

The Bruce Mason Centre reserves the right to ask anyone causing a disturbance to performers, other patrons or staff to leave the theatre.

There is a Duty Manager at all performances who will be happy to help with any problems.

The Bruce Mason Centre, at all times, understands their Health and Safety obligations to all patrons and staff and has a health and safety management system in place.
